So I picked up a rough 87 Cabby for $400, it needs some work, but it runs and drives and has potential.
I have a problem with the clutch cable and I can't remember exactly how it is designed. Somebody has made a plate from a washer and a piece of steel pipe that goes over the hole where the cable enters the firewall. I seem to remember a fat rubber donut with washers on either end that goes there on my other VWs, but I'm not sure, it's been a while.
The problem with this plate is the cable is not spaced far enough from the pedal and there is an inch of slack in the pedal. I've cut it down some, but it still needs more space between the plate and the firewall. I don't know if I'm missing a part or what, can someone tell me how it is supposed to be? Thanks
