Repairing your Klipper Kit.

Have you done so much to the car today that it just doesn't fit into one section, or are you too damn lazy to split it all up? Either way, this is the section for you.

Repairing your Klipper Kit.

Post by Briano1234 »

When I bought my beastie. The right rear fender piece was cracked and broken from a collision.

I have taken the time to figure out how to repair it and make it as strong as it was before without too much hassle.

Heres what I did.

A couple of pair of latex gloves. (Jimmy put the gloves on your hands.)

Clean all the paint and get it to base plastic on both sides of the break.

Clean the paint off the front side of the break.

Scared the plastic a bit with a knife.

Taking a piece of wire mesh (old screening material) cut and shape it to conform to the break.

I placed it on the inside of the lip, and bent to fit. It will retain the shape.

Remove it

Mix up JB-Weld Quick enough to cover the break and all the screening material.

Apply a thin coat of JB-Weld Quick to the cleaned area, then apply your mesh and cover with the remaining JB-Weld Quick.

Turn over the piece and fill in the outter break area with JB-Weld Quick since you have gloves on smooth it out makes filing easier.

Let dry 10 to 15 minutes.

Then file off the excess, sand, prime and paint.

I tried other methods pvc glue, 5 minute epoxy, but this is the only way I got a satisfactory hold, and filling of the damaged area.

After I painted it it looked great.

The metal being coated both sides with JB-Weld Quick shouldn't rust, and gives it added strenght.

Tomorrow what I reassemble the Rabbit I will snap a pic or two.
