9a trany out 4k tranny in

Have you done so much to the car today that it just doesn't fit into one section, or are you too damn lazy to split it all up? Either way, this is the section for you.

9a trany out 4k tranny in

Post by Calimus »

Yesterday the fun started. Swapped the cv hubs between the two tranny's. This was supposed to be a major PITA but turned out to be a cream puff. I was told I'd need a gear puller to yank the hubs off since after 15 years, they can be a good bit stubborn. Well, as soon as the cicle clip came off, so did the hubs. They were harder to put back on then to take off. Took three of us to get them on. One to hold the tranny in place, one to compress the spring on the hub and one more to get the damned circle clip back in place.

So then we slapped the newly rebuilt 4k up in the car. Got it bolted in, got the starter back in and all the elctrical hooked up. Once CV shaft is in place. Then we said the hell with it for the night.

Today started the rest. Other cv shaft goes into place intake put back on, new rims modified to fit and then everything gets buttoned up. Oh yea, also replaced the clutch while we were in there. So aside from rebuilding the engine itself, there is now just about nothing that I haven't rebuilt, replaced or touched in this car. Hope to have some pics by the end of the day.

Managed tog et one more use out of the hone and got another wheel finished tonight. So, the rears are on, waiting for H&R to deliver the front spacers and then I have to figure out how to find new stones for the 20+ year old hone that I have.

I bought a new hone and it's a complete piece of crap, wasn't worth the $30 I spent on it. Like the saying goes, they certainly don't make them like the used to.
