Solid or Hydro lifter head in my '85?

Post by 85Wolfy »

Trying to dig up a cam for my '85 Wolfsburg. Any easy way to tell my head is solid or hydro lifter? Thanks!

it should be a solid lifter unless its been replaced

only way to know 100% is to pull the cam cover and count the cam bearings. if you've got 5 caps, then its solid, if its 4 caps, then its hydro

Also, if its a solid head, the lifters will have shims/pucks on the top for the valve adjustment.
This electronic fuel injection thing is just a fad
