Exhaust
I picked up the new stock type exhaust from Autopart International last night and tried to install it. The intermediate pipe fit the back of the converter well, but the muffler did not fit the pipe. The inlet on the new muffler is about an 1/8" larger than the new pipe. I could understand this if I bought the product from two different suppliers or if I tried to use one of the old pieces of exhaust, but I did it right. $145.00 for exhaust that you need to spend 2 hours to get to fit right with shims and extra cuts is bogus. I'm thinking about a performance system anyway. Does anybody have any experience with a performance center pipe/rear muffler combination that isn't too loud and fits? I might be asking a lot.

I haven't used anything aftermarket yet, but I'll be in the same boat with the rocco sometime in the next 6-7 months as I've caved in to the modification monster.
From what I hear, you can get a TT setup with the dynomax muffler and it's not ear bleeding loud.

I put a Techtonics system on my 91 cabriolet.
It fit perfectly, no mods needed. It came with nice stainless clamps.I used some exhaust sealer to keep it tight.
I made it stainless, becouse I really dont want to mess with it ever again
It came with dynomax stainless muffler.........it sounds classy without too much noise

the TT setup is popular, but it's too loud for me. i'm not a fan of loud exhausts - especially on a cabriolet - prefering them to be stealthy. my friends turbo rabbit has a TT and it does get pretty annoying on the highway. instead, i opted for the euro sport cat-back. flows just as well but it's noticably quieter, although it doesn't sound quiet as sporty.
the comparison is fair since this mate built the manifold and DP for both cars, and the turbo-back pipes are exactly the same diameter on both cars.

I was really pushing my Cabby pretty hard and the exhaust pipe that goes into the ? broke. I say"?" because I have a cataletic converter and I have a muffler but I also have this thing that is about a foot and a half long and just slightly larger round than the pipe. The weld broke there and it allowed the exhaust pipe to drop down in the front enough to touch the front sway bar. The vibration and sound would rattle your teeth and I got a lot of looks from people at red lights. I put a new new rubber hanger in front but I still have to get a muffler shop to weld the pipe back to the "?". Can I live without the "?" and just put a straight pipe to the muffler? Will it affect my emissions?

I think I will just buy a straight pipe and clamps instead of going to the muffler shop. If it isn't too loud. I hate to take my car to the shop. The older I get the more anal I become but lately I have wanted to kill the punks that have touched my car. Maybe I have just had bad luck but maybe the last 10 times has really brought out the a$$ in me. There is no excuse for the really poor service and unprofessional attention I have paid good money for. I wanted a short pipe bent to put the tip on at the last muffler shop. They welded the tip on at $40.00. I did not want the tip welded on and I specifically ask them not to weld the tip. English is my first language and I thought English was their first language. I always end up speaking French on my way out.
