aba block (2.0) with what head?
I was told by a performance shop in jersey (hodis performance) that i should do an 8v head with a 16 v bottom end (i beleive) and i can basically boost the sh!t out of it....can anyone here give me some more information.

8v bottom ends (1.8 & 2.0) combined with a 16v head (1.8 or 2.0) make a great low compresstion motor primed and ready for boost
the combination will give you approx 7.8:1 compression. With the right intercooling that means you can get A LOT of boost
however
there is one thing to look out for: Valve Clearance.
the combination gives you an extremely thin valve/piston clearance. Less than a full millimeter if i remember correctly. This can be easily resolved by having a machineshop knotch the 8v pistons to give you added clearance. This will also slightly lower your compression just a hair more.

PDX answered your question indirectly. If I'm reading this right, your question was should you use an 8v head on a 16v block. PDX is telling you no. You should use a 16v head on an 8v block and have a competent machine shop notch the pistons for valve clearance.

I believe that's a very similar setup to what PDX is running. I'm not sure the compression ration will be low enough to handle the boost that you are talking about without grenading. PDX, you out there?

oh
whoops
i didn't read correctly
DO NOT BOOST A 16V BOTTOM END WITH AN 8V HEAD!!
the resulting combination of those two will put you at approx 12.5:1 compression
way too high for boost or pump gas
but it is a good way to get a powerful NATURALLY ASPIRATED 8v
but, you should boost the hell out of an 8v bottom end with a 16v head, infact, you'd want to so you can get some of the power back

BTW, take any of those "Vortex Rules" and throw them out the window here. No need to apologize for not signing in or not doing a search, this is a very small forum with a group of friendly folks.
