Re: The past week in Car repair
Took the blue one for a spin, as the wife had Cataract surgery, I left the top up till I loaded the groceries.
Took it down, and the dam frame bound on me and I could see the whole hinge move.
Well to inspect the hinge.
Open the trunk.
Release the rear seat catch.
Remove the seat bottom.
Remove the window crank handle off the rear 1/4 card.
Remove the Rear quarter panel.
Remove the left or right back seat pivot bolt, screw, or Allen.
Remove the 5 screws that hold the rear plastic hing cover on.
Remove the Rear Hinge cover.
Look to make sure that your 3 17mm bolts are tight. One of mine was out, and interfering with the pivot....
DON'T FORCE IT.
Fixed my Green ones Stereo, all 4 speakers work.

Replaced the rear Drum brakes on my Pissan Nathfinder, and it makes me appreciate VW's wedge adjust so much more better.

Went to replace the oil pressure switch on the Van, well they redesigned it, 10 bucks for the sender, and 23 bucks for the new harness to plug it in to, and I have to cut and solder it on.... GO FINGER.

Re: The past week in Car repair - That time of year
It's that time of year again where the summer toys are put away.
So I spent Saturday, changing the oil on the bunnies, swapping the wheels for the storage wheels and generally cleaning them out.
Monday, I took them to the farm where they get stored for the next six months.
So Topless Bunny and Posh Bunny are in hibernation.

Re: The past week in Car repair
Saturday was such a nice day, warm, T-shirt weather. What was I doing?
Putting the winter tires on the Golf and the wagen. I was thinking I was crazy. Well I'm glad I did!
Sunday we got a good 5 inches of snow.

Re: The past week in Car repair
Had the top down on the Green one for about a month, it has been in the garage, and dam, had to let it warm up a bit as it was cold and shrunk when I went to put it up.

Re: The past week in Car repair
I've been putting off a nasty exhaust leak and power steering issues since I bought the car. Tonight I ordered a pump and new hoses, the catalytic convertor and a new O2 sensor.

Re: The past week in Car repair
Driving the Green one today in to work, the coolant low started to blink... Damnit...
Then the center vent started to oscillate. DANG DAMNITS.
Pulled over in to a parking lot, the sensor connector came loose... ok, the new sensor didn't have a lock clip... Well new one was ordered due in on Friday... From AutoHausaz.... Then found the vacuum line at the check valve was loose, since I was tooling topless, I cut my windshield washer hose and ran a new one between the Check valve and the "t"... no mo oscillation in the vent....
All in all a good day driving topless, until I pulled in to the off parking lot...

Re: The past week in Car repair
Well, the colder weather made me consider 2 things, Heet for the Gas Tanks and Thankful for gassing up the green bunny prior to the temps heading south...why? Cause the Gas Cap lock cylinder froze the next morning when it dropped from 50 to 25 Sunday night/Monday morning....I had to use a hair dryer on it to unlock it to add Heet to the tank.
I saw 7 degrees on my thermo meter on the porch this morning at 5:00am. BRRRRRRRRR

Yea, I would imagine this is no fun for you Juan. Things were a little better this morning as it was 16f when I left the house this morning and 20f here at work.

Juan, those aren't swollen lymph nodes in your throat, those are your testicles trying to keep warm...bLac K aBriOleT89 wrote:Here it was 7 degrees this morning! Coldest temps of my entire life!

Couldn't resist.
I can remember colder days in June, July, August, Sept, and October one year. I guess that is why I don't like snow/cold.

Re: The past week in Car repair
I feel sorry for you folks, but up here, we just call it winter.
It was cold for a couple of days, but now it's around freezing, which is normal here.
My issue is all the snow we have been getting. My street is about 1/3 of its normal width. The rest is snow banks.
