changing 89 cabby air filter

are there any special instructions for changing the air filter in a 89 cabby 1.8 l ? My daughters car is out of town and i,m going to travel to pull some maint. video perhaps.?

Shouldn't need any "special tools" there are like 4 clips to separate the CIS dist from the air box. Be wary of the Fuel lines.

It's not hard, but it is a little on the awkward side. An extra pair of hands would be helpful.

There are four clips that hold the fuel distributor on top of the air box where the filter is located.

Release the clips and lift the fuel distributor up so the filter can be removed (that's where the extra help comes in to remove the filter and put the new one in).

It can be done by one person, just a bit awkward to hold the distributor with one hand and replace the filter with the other.

Set the fuel distributor back in position, make sure no wires or hoses are pinched. And secure the four clips.

I found that by removing the battery clamp and moving the battery forward I had a little extra room to get my hands on some of the clips.

yep.....thanks phil. I plan to get my daughter involved since it's her car. We've put a lot of time and $$$ into this car as we got screwed by the seller. He lied thru his smiling teeth ! unfortunatly there are people like this out there and I should have known better, but it runs great great now ! can't afford to not finish the project ! thanks again all..........jim wa7goe
