Finally some Good News at the TRF-HQ
The core group here knows that things at TRF-HQ has been running up & down for a good while now in the financial area. Well, it's finally about to change for the better I think. I should be getting an offer letter in the next few days for an awesome job with much better pay. It's been a hell of an interview process so far, but I'm liking where it's ending up. So, while this is great news for me, it's bad news for Brian. Means he's going to have to actually help me put a top on the Crabby Cabby now that we will actually be able to afford putting her back on the road.
Sadly, I do think this means the end for the scirocco's and possibly my A6. It's a 90 mile round trip commute and I'm thinking about picking up a TDi for those duties. Might keep the A6 for now, but I think the scirocco's are going to go up for sale. They were a ton of fun, but I'm getting old, they are low and I still have the motorcycle for when I want to act like an idiot.
Good things are coming. I should also have some time to get things back in order here. With money to work on the cabby, that means things I can actually post up here. Will be nice to actually have something to contribute again.

45 Mile.... Gee, I remember the days when I had to commute from Lilburn to Barrett Pkwy everyday....
48 miles there, then downtown on 75 and up on 85 for the ride home, 64 miles.... 285 at 5:00pm isn't a good place to be....
Congrats.....

Re: Finally some Good News at the TRF-HQ
Luckily I don't have to deal with 285. An I have the option of being in by 7am which should keep me out of the bulk of the traffic. Here's to hoping that actually works.
Phil, I'm really hoping that we can get back to things here. It's something I've really missed and I honestly can't thank you guys enough for sticking it out around here.
For now, Cristine and I are taking the next 3 days to escape to North Carolina to get away and decompress. Will see you all when we get back.

Re: Finally some Good News at the TRF-HQ
Fingers crossed for you!
Bummer about the Sciroccos and A6...
but TDIs are economical fuel-wise. I've been drooling over the Mk6/Mk7 GTIs... until I read we might just be getting the Golf GTD! I then drooled over it... until someone had to post about the upcoming Golf/Jetta Sportwagen (which, of course, will have a TDI option)!
Back on track: Just be glad that 90-mile commute isn't in SoCal!

Thx everyone. Got the offer letter today. I'm happy with the offer and I'll be sending it back in with my autograph first thing Monday morning. Time to start tdi shopping.

Well, I let the A6 go yesterday. Came across the right deal on a 2010 Jetta TDi. I'll say that it's not as comfy as the audi, but the fuel mileage is making not care one bit.

''Gotta love" them diesels.
saw one driving down the road, with a bumper sticker that read: 50MPg No batteries Needed
Now I just wish Diesel was cheaper than gas as it used to be....

Re: Finally some Good News at the TRF-HQ
Well, the A6 kind of forced my hand. The trip to the mountains brought some underlying issues to the surface Saturday morning. So after running some parts price checks, I had to say the hell with it. A few searches via Autotrader, Carmax and Craigslist netted me a TDI to go check out. By the end of the day, I came home in the TDi. Only have some cruddy cell phone pics right now, so here they are.

Cristine Photo-bombed this one, lol

I'll have to take some more pics later this week. Brian, I'm really liking the TDi and I think I'll be able to get close to the 50mpg mark. I've already been able to hit 40 with mixed city/highway. An true to form, I'm already reading up on what I need to change the fuel filter, oil filter and DSG filter and their intervals.

Yep, use NapaGold (wix) filters. They never done me wrong.
And is you know the age of the timing belt cool if not..... Think about change....
Nice thing is no emissions ever, and no tune-ups.....
Only shock struts tires and alignment....
The Diesels go easily over 300-500K gotta love that too.
Nice to see Cristine.....
