Has anyone powder coated their original rims? I have the 'Avus Dolomite Gray w/polished spokes and rim V7U' and was thinking of making them white. Then making the VW logo on the wheel cap burgundy to match the car (top, boot, and interior are white).
any thoughts?

White versions are plentiful; I'd not ruin a set of classic Dolomites to make them white. Also not a fan of white wheels on cars painted anything other than white. But, those are my opinions.

If you want to try different colors on your wheels and have the ability to go back to the way they were I suggest plasti-dip. I've used it and it works great, and when you are ready to go back to change to a different color, you just peal the plasti-dip off by hand. No scraping, no thinners or hard chemicals. You can even do your whole car it in. Here's a site that will tell you call about it as well as show you pictures and video's. It's really great stuff and much cheaper then having them done professionally only to be stuck with it for a long time frame.

Yea, it's pretty awesome stuff. I haven't done an entire car yet, but I'm damn tempted.

That was pretty cool. Its like rattlecanning, but more temporary. Like home latex paint, but with strength.
The entire tool selection at Sears or the contents of a Snap-On truck will do you no good if you do not know how to use them.

I've tried the plastidip. It is a good product since it is easy to apply and remove. Also it is not too pricey.
