Send it westward too (along with some rain). Wasn't fun working out in my garage the other day at 107°F, not to mention the poor firefighters (and the fires themselves) up in Colorado where it's also been over 100°...

Was out in the wrecking yard today to pick up some odds and ends, and forgot to take a hat.... it said 102 on my t-scale in my car, the back porch said 100.Calimus wrote:Send some of that damn Canadian air to Ga would you? It's 104f here at TRF HQ. Could use some nice cool breeze's man
Baby daughter called and said the blue bunny had 125 on the oil today, that is the highest I have ever seen it since installing the external oil cooler, I said you have the a/c on? Yes, and it is about 130 on the asphalt... so that is ok....

Has been totally miserable here all day. Our aging AC unit was only able to keep the house at 86f. An that's where it still is. Hoping it will start being able to cool the house down now that it's getting dark out. Temp here hit 108 in the shade. I need a new job so I can afford to summer in Antarctica.

As one that has been to both the Arctic and Antarctic, you know that it is winter there in Antarctica now and McMurdo is frozen over and shut down to traffic until the thaw usually November.... Now the Arctic is where you want to go this time of year. It is only @ 30 degrees... and not the 100 below in the southern pole area.Calimus wrote:Has been totally miserable here all day. What we need is for all the Canadians, to get a box fan on an extension cord out side and point it south.
After spending a year with no summer, and only Winter, I gladly like the heat....

Re: Phil, could you do us a favor?
I would guys, but the temp. here today was over 90F.
I kind of enjoyed it, we have had nothing but rain for the last few weeks.
Defiantly had the top down today.

I have a relatively new A/C (several years old now) and my t-stat is intentionally set at 88Calimus wrote:Our aging AC unit was only able to keep the house at 86f. An that's where it still is.

One camping trick that you can use to keep cool: get a towel wet, cover yourself with it, and direct a fan towards you. Old-fashioned A/C for cheap. (My great-grandfather would put a block of ice in the family car back in the '30s/'40s, right in front of the floor vent. According to Grandma, it worked great... until the ice melted.)

Re: Phil, could you do us a favor?
Kammy - when you live in those constant temps, you get used to it over time. Here, we are used to temps in the 90's, but this 100+ shit isn't the norm, lol. Yea, the wet towels and such are a great way to keep cool and we certain employ those tactics. Temps didn't drop under 100 here till about 10pm or a bit later. Going to be the same today and it blows as I'll be on the back deck slaving over a grill (just to add insult to injury) as we are having a family GTG today.
On the flip side, the heat and me being in it has finally allowed me to break a weight loss ceiling. So here's to hoping I drop a few more today so I can work on getting to the next goal. I'm now down 32lbs from the start of the year. If I can manage even another 20lbs by years end I'll be very happy.
Oh and Kammy, I totally understand about the power bill. Last month was $250 which is high for us. I have a feeling this next one is going to be closer to $400.

Re: Phil, could you do us a favor?
Yesterday was brutal for me. We did the family GTG thing at our place and I ended up on the grill for 3.5 hours. Cristine kept me supplied with booze (yea I know it's not the best thing for the heat, but in this case it worked). I wasn't feeling any pain, and really not even the heat for that matter. I re hydrated at the end of the night though. Was a good time, the only crappy part was that with the temps what they were, the grill got hot enough to ignite it's grease trap twice, lol. So, had to put the flames out and let it cool down a bit before cranking it back up.

Yeah, if I left my t-stat at about 82° 24/7, I'd be seeing $250 easy... I don't even want to think about temps lower than 82!Calimus wrote:Oh and Kammy, I totally understand about the power bill.
