The past week in Car repair

Have you done so much to the car today that it just doesn't fit into one section, or are you too damn lazy to split it all up? Either way, this is the section for you.

She did, but it's funny because the note reads "I think I may have scratched you car when I pulled in this morning" Here are the pics, you tell me if you "think she might" have made contact with the car.

I think we can move passed the "might" and can go straight to the "your damn right you did" conclusion. Anyway, I'm trying to deal with this in a civil manner, but it's going on 24 hours since I called and left her a voicemail and I haven't heard back. No one saw her today, but she could have been at any of our other campuses. I'm hoping I'll get a hold to her tomorrow and can start getting this resolved.

Like I said, it happens. We did talk today and she had already contacted her Ins agent and she gave me all her info. So I called and got the ball rolling with them. I'll prollie take it to a few places tomorrow after work to get some quotes of my own before an adjuster comes to see it.

Ouch... poor Audi. :( At least she left a note and her insurance is taking care of it; the dingbat who scraped the back bumper of my Jetta years ago at work didn't bother.

Speaking of the Jetta... I had to run shuttle for yet another Colorado River raft trip this week, which meant rendevousing with the parents up in the high country this past weekend. I left an 80-degree Phoenix and arrived at 70-degree Prescott on Saturday. Sunday morning we woke up to this:

Snow continued to fall throughout Sunday, into Monday morning. One major highway was open, the snow let up, so we hit the road. In order to do that, I had to move my Jetta. After clearing the snow off it, I fired it up. Long story short, it had an oil leak under pressure (i.e. leaked only while running), which it didn't have upon leaving home. I presumed: 1) power steering leak; 2) oil cooler seals blew out. Took it over to an indy VW shop. En route to Lee's Ferry (rafting launch place) I got a call: "Oil cooler seals failed." Well, at least I was right! :D :x Got the car back today (little snow left BTW), drove home and gave the poor traumatized thing a bath.

I woke up to a scene similar to that save for the fact that it was Halloween, -20 below 70mph winds, and I don't think it stopped snowing till April that year. Gee I hate Snow.

WOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I got my new radiator delivered today... The install wasn't a direct swap, I had to modify the upper mounts braces and the radiator top card.. The new radiator was pinned at the bottom, but the top was off to the right by about 1/4 of an inch.. It was a puzzelment, but I got it installed and tested for leaks.....

So that's what happened to the winter we didn't get up here this year.

I saw on the news about all that snow out there, that's just crazy.

As for the Audi, it's scheduled to go into a local body shop that does great work on Monday. Spoke to the claims folks today, the shop I wanted to use is on their preferred list and they told me to take it over today to have them give it a quick look. Went over and let them have a look and they asked if Monday was to soon to bring it in. I told them that was fine and they said for me to call before I head over so they can call the rental car company and get them on the way over so I'm not having to wait. I like this shop and I've liked work I've seen come out of this shop. Let's just hope I like what they do for me.

Took the bunny out of the Garage, Washed it and vacuumed it. Then I drove it to test the radiator....It was nice to drive the bunny again.

Replaced the Blue Bunny's alternator, as I finally fingered out that the old (new) alternator had a bad bearing since the day I installed it last year before Bugapaluza, and what do you know I only hear the exhaust leak now... Then I noticed that the res nipple on the radiator was leaking like a sieve, so trim the hose and it is more better now.

Nice to drive it topless, later in the week I will be looking at the suspension as I still feel something, so I am going to inspect the inner and outer tie-rods, and possibly change the drivers side wheel bearing.

There is no automotive joy here. Dropped the A6 off at the body shop this morning and was handed a Mitsubishi Galant as my rental. This car sucks, it has no soul and there is more plastic in 1 square inch than in all of Joan rivers face. Top that off, the 4 cyl in this shitlant has no power what so ever. I have to wring the snot out of it to get it moving. I was initially not worried about how long my car may be in the shop, after driving this disaster, I really, really, really miss my A6. I may just leave it in the garage and drive the scirocco the rest of the time.

Brian, at least with the Yugo I would know I was better off walking. Phil, same goes for the trabant. Trust me, I hate to complain about that shitsubishi because it really makes me feel like a snob and I've never seen myself as one, but damn ya know? But hey, it beats walking.
