Fuel tank leaks........
i know there was a how to post on dropping the tank i just cant seem to find it. i checked cabby info - its not there. i checked here- cant find it for some reason. i know i seen it. it was a pretty good one too. but in any sense. does anyone know where i can find a how to on dropping my fuel tank. there's a fairly nasty leak going on. anytime i put more then 2 gallons of fuel it just drips out. so im going to see whats going on under there tonight hopefully. i already checked with the local VW dealer and it has had its recall a LONG time ago. so im not eligible for that, and they wanted $200 just to do the tank check. basically to tell me i have a leak. well any info would be helpful. oh also i looked in the bently and couldnt find anything there either. thanks....

Well, you have to jack the car high on the rear ends and support it other than the rear axle.
You need to spray the rear axle bolts with pb-blaster a couple of days prior.
You have to drop the axle to get sufficient room.
Be careful of the rear rubber brake lines they can tear.
You will have to support the axle.
You will need to take the exhaust off the rubber mounts to push it to one side.

Briano's tips are great. A friend and I did my 87 Cabby tank last year and figured it out -- it just too longer. The job's a messy hassle, but not impossible. It took us about 4 hours.

When I saw something leaking on my car, I panicked like hell. Well, girls really do think cars would explode right away with leaks.
