Hey guys, my daughter's cabriolet seems to be missing what the bentley manual calls the ball socket that attaches her accelarator pedal to her throttle cable. She has an 87. Anyone know where to get this replacement part. Hubby replaced the valve cover gasket yesterday and the cable just fell off of her gas pedal. Don't want that happening when she's out and about.
Thanks for the help.

Re: gas pedal and cable attachment
There is a bushing that holds the cable to the pedal. They wear out and fall apart.
So you are left with the cable and a clip.
To resolve it you can do one of the following:
Get a new bushing from the dealer, Harrison is cheaper than ellis.
Whittle a cork down, and poke a whole in it.
Get a rubber stopper from a hardware store.
The bushing has a lip on one side, so you put it in the pedal.
Then you insert the cable from the other side and place the clamp on the cable

If it's at the pedal itself, I think it's just a hook and they used some foam piece as a stopper to keep it from coming off. You can pretty much make this out of anything (a 1/8" piece of rubber would work great) and just shape it into a round shape so that it doesn't catch on anything behind the pedal. Then punch a hole through the center of it that's slightly smaller than the hook and cram it on the end.
If I'm thinking of a different VW that uses this, then I'm sorry. I might have to stick my head in the cabby this weekend and have a look.
