Re: Jetta Update
Looks really nice, especially since you have been working on it since 2006?

Yes as matter of fact, I have the Luck o'the Irish...everything I touch turns to fertilizer of the bovine variety.

Re: Jetta Update
Looks great socal. I'll make no such comment as Brian did since I'm in the same boat. Granted, I actually drove mine to a GTG 2 years ago, but it cost me some rod bearings which I'm hoping to change out this winter.
For now I have the twin turbo goodness of the A6 to keep me happy.

Well since it was only about a bazillion years in the making...we forgive ya.
Nice to see a clean engine in a clean bay, want to come clean mine?

Re: Jetta Update
So.....less than 1000 miles on my engine and its time to do a rebuild (again), the shop that did the rebuild is not honoring backing their work, so im doing it myself (now that i have the space to do it...just wish i had the space back then)
the engine is getting a knock at about 2500 rpm...leads me to believe the bottom end is letting go, wont know for sure till i tear the motor down.

the tear down begins:

i think it's either time for a motor swap or time to turbo the 16v

Re: Jetta Update
the good news is:
its an easy fix (#3 rod bearing)
the bad news is:
apparently they stole my aluminum flywheel and installed a factory one in its place

Re: Jetta Update
Aw, man; major bummer!!
Car looks so nice too!
I'm not one for suing, but this shop certainly deserves it, or at the very least media attention. Wow... the audacity to pull such a thing.
