The thing about a Beetle is, sometimes if getting to something without dropping the engine involves a lot of disassembly and/or contortions, it's just easier to drop the $#@$! engine...

got my aircompressor installed and finally had a way to get the damn crank pulley off....so i now officially have the serp belt crank pulley installed....just need to get a water pump pulley, radiator hoses, battery, and plug all the connectors in and this thing should be running...
so my guess is another year :)

serpentine setup is officially finished (other than i need to get a new alternator and powdercoat the alternator mount)

Do you just need a new alternator cause it's not pretty?

If I sent you a bad alternator then I can ship another one.

yeah it's only cause its not pretty....ima try to clean it up before i get a new one

i just ran outside to see what it would take to pull the casing off, looks fairly easy...i think im gonna powdercoat the casing

Good, I would not want to sell somebody a bad one.
I have actually never seen one fail. There is a 94 in
my lot with 385,000 showing and alt. is still strong.

i think now that i have the serp done and the rad installed im gonna take it to a shop and pay them to get it running....before i do that i need to get the headliner in so i can finish installing the sunroof

friday i am installing my brake booster/master cylinder and bleeding the brakes, then im dropping the K frame and installing my manual steering rack...i still need the tool to remove the tierods so i can install the adjustable ones for both sides (MkII manual racks are usually only adjustable on one side)

You can usually rent that tool from autozone, but then again harborfreight has it too for about 50 bucks.

You can get by without it too. Turn the rack all the way to one side and
remove boot. You can usually get a pair of large pliers or even the correct
wrench in between the control arm and the subframe. Did it for many years.
Now I have a tool. Or I am one..... :roll:
