Trunk Lid Wont Open
I have a 93 Caby, and I'm having a problem getting the trunk lid open.
The lock seems to work as far as the key goes, but it doesn't seem to be releasing the latch so it will open.
Any thoughts ?
Thanks, Andy

Re: Trunk Lid Wont Open
Take the parcel shelf out.
Remove the cardboard cover off the trunk lid.
This will allow you to get to the Mechanism. It sounds as if the connecting rod is off from the lock to the latch.

Dumb question, but did you turn the key to the unlock position (key parrallel to the ground), then push the button in?mutwagn wrote:I have a 93 Caby, and I'm having a problem getting the trunk lid open.

I know it sounds like a really stupid question, but I have had several people stumpped when they tried to open mine. They couldn't understand the the key itself didn't unlatch the trunk.

Heh heh. At least we saved you some work!
Here's a confession, if it makes you feel better: For the first week I owned my car I thought the rear seat fold mechanism was broken. Turned out I just didn't know you had to pull out the knob behind the trunk lid.

When ever I have a lack of mental clarity moment.... I always assume the Super Dave position...."This is gonna hurt!, and wince."CalAltaDubber wrote: No problem andy, we all have done something stupid like that.
I have never done nothing like that nope never... Doing something like that always leads me to buying some sort of new tool which is never ever dumb.. Which reminds me:
I just bought a 24 inch prybar that has a narrow tang. I bought it because it fits perfectly in the notch of the A/C bracket and allows you to pivot that compressor to get proper tension on the belt.....

Hmmm...........
Is this the kind you find at Harbor Frieght or Northern Tool with a plastic handle?
If so I have one, and if not I'll probably need one before long.

Re: Trunk Lid Wont Open
Could be, but mine is a wrecking bar that I bought at Home Depot..... No plastic handle at all. The tang is about 1/2 to 3/4 inch wide and a narrow profile.mutwagn wrote:"I just bought a 24 inch prybar that has a narrow tang.
