Buster, my cabby is back together for the time being. If you wanted to feel how those springs and shocks feel you are welcome to take it for a spin.

Funny that your Cabby should be back together as I have just torn mine apart. One of those newfangled bolts that hold the A/C compressor on to the block worked itself loose on me yesterday causing the compressor to go off kilter thus causing the alt belt to experience some serious rubbing resulting in it needing to be replaced. I spent all night looking on the web for different sized alt pulleys, but all I could find is the standard 30 mm Bosch extension alt pulley that I already have. I think I am going to go with one LONG bolt to go all the way through the compressor instead of the two bolts. Hopefully this will work till I can find an extended pulley. If I had power steering all the write ups on the Vortex would help, but since I don't they are all bust. Thanks for the offer and I may take you up on it if I get things done around here like mow the lawn and put the Cabby back together. :?

The hole closest to the timing cover was badly worn and concerned me then. Was that the bolt that worked it's way out? One long bolt is going to be pretty difficult to put in since clearance is an issue and you would be trying to thread a bolt through one set of threads and then another 4" away. I'm not outrageously busy like I have been, let me know if you need anything.

The longer bolt won't work unless you nut it on the other end, as the threaded parts of the bracket are on the inside.

I would think that a regular bolt and a smallish lock washer or locktite would be better for you.

Well Six has seen my handy work, but I went a whole different direction on this. To make a long story short I removed the A/C compressor and associated bracket and other stuff. Stuck the alternator in the old bracket location along with a pulley extension and Voila I solved my problems. I reused the water pump-crank belt, but I will be changing it out for a more narrow belt to help compensate for the alternators more narrow pulley. I will post a more detailed write up and some pictures in my "Nuts and Bolts" thread that I started a while back when I first started having problems with this issue. Thanks guys for the suggestions. :thumbup:

When I first started visiting here there were two players that made the 1,000 goal a big deal. That would be SoCal and 1lowcab.
