New purchase

Post by sixsracing »

Not a cabriolet but still cool. I joined an auto auction last week because a customer of mine has been telling me to for ages. Anyway, there was a 98 New Beetle in red with alloys and a factory rear spoiler so I bid. Figured I may as well jump in with both feet. They called yesterday and I am a proud owner of a next gen Beetle. Got to go to the bank this morning to get a certified check and it will be here tomorrow or so. FBG is pretty excited about getting out of the Lexus and into something a bit sportier. She has not had a car to drive since 1986 or so. Been Vanagons and the LX450 since then, with a Mazda pick up for a short while.

It's been awhile since I posted any photos, do I still need to upload pics to another site and link them to this one? I used a service for this but I can't seem to find it again. Any advice?

Thw white stuff in the background is what we like to call pre-mud. When it's falling we call it a variety of things not suitable for the family like atmosphere of this fine website. :rmad:

No, in fact I really dislike red vehicles because of the attention they draw. I would never actually go out with the intention of searching for one, but they do seem to find me.

Very nice. We have a 99' Blue NB. It's a true beater, but it does keep on ticking. Gl with the red one!

There isn't a VW that looks bad in red... including your new New Beetle!

i don't mind the red color, I mind the way I seem to accessorize with the flashing blue lights and the expensive paper I accumulate from the nice people who seem to have nothing but my best interests in mind.

Now that you mention it the flashing blues do have a thing for red Volkswagens, but when the officers are wearing Hawaiian T's on a sunny Friday afternoon they are very lenient to the tune of a verbal warning (true story) 8).

Unfortunately there isn't an officer alive that will see my driving record and give me a verbal warning.
I have actually had cops come back to me after calling the stop in and thanking me for stopping.
Driving to endanger
Failure to Stop
Wreckless endangerment
170MPH in a 55
80MPH in a 30....in the rain.... on one wheel (motorcycle)
Would you like me to go on?
