Its raining in my cabbie!!!!!!! (not 56k friendly)

GUYS,

I am desperate!!!!! Yesterday it snowed in Brussels, and for the first time I realised how much my new cabbie is leaking inside.......

I woke up at 6 in the morning only to realise that everything was covered in white...... The first thing that went through my head was....... THE CAR!!!!!

I wore my jacket (still wearing my pyjamas) and rushed to it with my camera on one hand and the keys on the other.......

To my surpise the interior was DRY......... Amazing I thought...... The previous owner did a fantastic job with the hood......

I went back up to continue my sleep....... (Working at 17:00 today).

After 3 hours, I got to the car, open the door as usual, enter the car and THEN........ SPLATS!!!! my feet are in a small pond..... SH!T......the snow has begun to melt and all the water somehow found a way inside my car......

That is a temporary solution.........

Check the rain drop on the rubber seal ready to fall on my nice clean seat!!!!!

Tight seal between the top and the windshield.....

Can somebody tell me if he/she had the same problem?
The water seems to come from inside the hood somehow....... and it drips only on this particular corner.... nowhere else!!!!!

My wifes cabby had this problem for a long time and nothing I did seemed to work. We finally just had the top replaced and that cured the problem all together. However, there wern't any tears in that area of the top so it baffled me a bit. My thoughts are that the guy we had do the top, prollie corrected an alignment issue with the top when he re-did it. My wife (The forum owner) my know for sure on that one, however, I'm sure she wouldn't mind giving they guy that worked on ours a call and ask him what the fix may be.

BTW, very nice ride ya got there.

I was so pissed today......Actually I was more dissapointed that such a neat job on the top would leak that much.

My old cabbie doesn't leak at all!!!!!! And its 83 model!!!!

Anyway, I have the car in the garage now drying up (I am at work for the mo), so I try to put some silicone and see what happens..... Maybe it will cure things up as its snowing again now....

Beautiful cabby, and I am really impressed with the quality of your digital camera.
To answer your question, from the looks of your photos, it does not appear that the top is adjusted properly. From the way it appears the top does not come forward far enough, therefore, it is not sealing properly.

Unfortunately, my digi camera is not quite as nice as yours when it comes to closeups, so without being too blury I took this pic for you. This is my old wrecked Cabby which I had a new top put on right before she got killed. Even though it is not a closeup, you can see that there is not as much rubber seal visible as in your picture.

Despite what everyone says about all Cabbies leaking, a properly installed top with a good top assembly and seals should not leak. If it leaks, something is wrong, pure and simple. One caveat is that the ice getting into where your top is meeting the seal causes expansion, and then you get wet inside the car since the water force its way inside. The best cure for this is proper adjustment.

I thought of that also..... But it doesn't move any further than that....
I am going to put some silicone today, see what happens..... Its a pitty it leaks like that!!! BUT I AM GOING TO FIX IT!!!!!!!!!!! I HAVE TO!!!!

Wifey had the same problem when we first got the Cab. New weather stripping ( or seal or whatever the hell the dealer put on), fixed it and eliminated alot of the wind noise too.

I only got a glimpse of you rims (NICE!) and everything else. You got any more pictures shwing the entire car?

Yeah, if only it didn't have so many problems.......
The weather is ULTRA cold here and I can't work on the car for the mo.

Funny thing is, I am going to put some silikone where the roof is leaking while the car is downstairs in the bank's garage..... I am still at work until 00:00 Brussels Time....

lots but in my hard drive..... Will post them on my website tomorrow probably.... I really hate to see the silver one go....

It served me well for 6 years as a student..... Amazing how many moments we had together....; Every summer driving to Greece, Tour of Europe, escaped FATAL accidents a few times thanks to being a MK1......

Anyway, I think I better stop now....
