Door Card question
We recently picked up a '97 Cabrio with a leather interior in excellent shape
except for some door card problems. On both sides the leather has started pulling out from under the window seals and just above the armrest there are some loose spots where the leather has drooped a little bit. Any ideas on how to fix? Pics to come soon.

Yup, what he said. The 3M tapes will not disappoint you and is not messy like glues.Briano1234 wrote:You would have to remove the door card, and try to get some 3m weather strip adhesive or 3m hi-tack...

Update: After looking at the space I had to work with, I went with the contact cement. After removing the door-half of the window scraper I found that the driver's side door card has a broken clip that allows the posterior half to flex. I think thats the reason the leather worked loose in the first place
. There were also two upholstery clips holding the top leather edge on the driver's side and three on the passenger, another smoking gun
. Anyway, I did a quick fix and cemented down the bad spots on both sides. It looked great! For about 24 hours. We took Abby up to a car show in Omaha, with 115 deg F in the shade. Cement melted and the driver's side looks almost as bad as it did when I started.
I will be walking back to the VW dealership this weekend to get more of the upholstery clips for the leather and the plastic door card clips to wrap this up for good. I guess I'll be getting high again on Sunday

Use a water proof adhesive..... High humidity can cause water based latex glues to seperate.
3m weatherstrip adhesive is waterproof and when applied in 2 coats to both sides very hard to remove.
