How to remove vent windows?

Somebody in their infinite wisdom decided it would be a good idea to run a bead of silicone around the vent window seals and latch the windows shut. Now they won't open and there's goop everywhere. I think it would be best to just replace the assemblies with good used ones. Anybody done this? How involved a project would it be (I have quite a bit on my plate as it is with my beloved Swamp Rabbit

)

I've removed the glass itself before, never had any luck removing the entire framework for it. I spent about 30min working at it and said the hell with it.

You have to remove the door card.
You need to loosen the window off the rail, and push to the back of the door.
You need to push the front window seal down bout 1/4 inch.
You need to remove the two screws at the top of the frame.
You need to remove the two 10mm bolts that hold the rail at the middle of the door, and at the bottom of the rail (there may be just a clip).

Pull the vent window to the back to unseat it from the groove of the front of the door frame.
Then as you are lifting the frame out of the door you will need to rotate it 90 degrees to clear the lower mount from the lip of the car door. Taking off the window scrapers will give you more clearance to see what is going on.

Be carefull as the unsupported frame on the door can bend very easily.

Also as a foot note, on my 81 diesel that had movable vents, I glued them to the seals as the pivots came unglued. Cheaper than buying a new glass......

I may have a set of seals for fixed windows avail soon including glass......they are in decent shape as I am in the process of changing my fixed windows to movable.

Yeah know I can't spell fer spit... I blame my stroke, as my right hand occasionally don't know if I really pressed the key or not.

They were probably trying to stop the darn things from whistling. I had to shim the latch on my driver's side one with a nickel to get it to stop.
