Hey all ~
I live in Ohio. We MUST have a front plate on our car. My cabby came from KY - where only a back one is needed. I have the bracket.
My question....does the bracket just screw into the bumper cover on my 92 cabby - or does it screw into the metal frame inside it. I know on the beetles (new) that they just screw into the plastic of the rear bumper cover material. Kinda cheapo I thought.
Anyway - anyone had to add a front plate bracket to a 92 +-?
Thanks in advance...

No the license plate holder on a 90'ish screw directly through the bumper and into the backing plate with a sheet metal bolt 2 of them.

I know what you mean about those holes. When my car was being delivered the dealer in Luxemburg, drilled two holes in the front bumper (the small bumpers for North America) for the German Tourist plate (those oval ones). The licence plate bracket for the front plate was not available there.lowredcabrio wrote:unfortunatley, yes. through the bumper. After that law was lifted here, i removed mine and replaced it with a euro plate.
i wanted to cover up those wretched holes.

if you don't want to drill holes in your bumper you could put your plate down low by the lip. i ran it that way for years and never had a problem with it or the law, i live in OH also.
just bend the plate a little so you can read it, i think it really cleans up the front of the car.
heres a pic when i still had the clipper kit:

If you can't beat them, drop the top and pimp by 'em!
