Need some bubbles....

Have you done so much to the car today that it just doesn't fit into one section, or are you too damn lazy to split it all up? Either way, this is the section for you.

What exactly do these do? I've seen the rabbit eggs, but all of my Dubs never had them, so I'm at a loss as to where they attach to or what they help with exactly. I know it has to do with the vacuum system since the chambers are spherical, but other than that I'm at a loss...

The chambers are spherical as the pressure on all the sides in a vaccume is constant, and ther eis less a chance of collapsing internally.

The first cars that I saw with them was a volvo.

The egg crates, bubbles, or vaccume res, is for keeping a constant vaccume at the heater servos.

A vaccume line comes off the Brake Vaccume Tube and goes to check valve then to a Tee connector. From Tee it goes to the egg crate and to the feed thru at the heater box to the heater controls.

The purpose of this is so that under accelleration when the vaccume of the engine changes the servos remain in thier selected positions instead of returning to rest. That is if your center vents are blowing cold air, they will remain doing so as you accellerate to pass a car. If you accellerate to pas and they stop blowing and the defroster kicks in, you are losing vaccume to hold the servos.

Every car manufacturer, uses them in one way or another if they are using vaccume assisted servos.

When you accellerate, the vaccume at the take off point decreases, this causes the check valve to close as the vaccume in the eggs are higher than the vaccume in the TB. The egg crates then hold the vaccume needed to keep the servos operating. When the vaccume returns to normal, the check valve passes the increased vaccume and the the servos run off of engine vaccume again.

... which explains why the A/C cuts out on Dubchick's ride under acceleration!
Thanks! :D
