Re: A/C on a Non A/C
This sounds very similar to how mine looks except that the expansion valve is in the engine bay rather than on the evaporator. https://sites.google.com/site/blakeheinlein2/vanagon-airconditioning Oh, and as I was changing my battery cables (which didn't fix my cold start problem), I came across to w...

Re: A/C on a Non A/C
And a couple more..
I forgot to take a picture of the underside of the alternator area, I'll try to do that soon. I'm guessing anyone who knows the components of an a/c system will be able to use a process of elimination from my pictures to guess what it would be anyway.

Re: A/C on a Non A/C
Hey, sorry.. I've been tied up with school work and the car. I decided to not mess with the a/c system at the moment. I thought it was intertwined with the coolant system, but it's not. Here are more pics. Also, for some of you who have read about the cooling system problems I was having, my heater ...

Re: A/C on a Non A/C
Ok... it sounds like it would be a huge PITA to remove the system. What would you guys do? I already have the dash off. How do you remove the knee bar? The hoses go from the AC rad straight to the firewall so I'm guessing the compressor is behind the dash. I'll take a picture once I get home, but th...

Re: A/C on a Non A/C
Alright, I have more pics.. and questions. In one of the pictures you can see the back of the alternator and two hoses that are connecting to some metal pipes/hoses/whatever they're called. Those hoses lead to/from the top of the firewall, and to what looks like a radiator that is in front of the ac...

A/C on a Non A/C
So apparently, the A/C on my car is aftermarket. Are there any resources to how this is even done so I can figure out how to undo most of it? I know it'll be a PITA to completely take everything related out, but I'd at least like to bypass the system (since it doesn't even work). And if someone coul...

Re: This time it's my cooling system..
Didn't flush the system or change the t-stat :banghead: I had a "mobile mechanic" do it. I've always had good luck with them but this guy was.. yea, anyway, won't be calling him again. I originally wanted him to change the tstat too but I changed my mind after meeting the guy. After watchi...

My friend started this for Subaru's. Thanks to me, she's included VW stuff. There are quite a few color options and she can customize and make pretty much any design you want if you ask.

Re: This time it's my cooling system..
Replaced the radiator and I still feel like it's running hotter than before but is technically normal. Once again, within ten minutes of driving, the line is already right on top of the red light, it will then go to the right side of the light before the fan comes on, but it generally stays either r...

Re: License Plate Lights
Third brake light works. Trunk light works. I know it's not the sockets - they're clean as a whistle. The lights worked fine then all of a sudden, both didn't work. So sounds like I'm looking for a grey wire? Where will this wire be and what am I looking for?

Re: This time it's my cooling system..
Ha, me too. I used to work for Home Depot so I was a little confused that a radiator was the same brand as paint. I'm thinking of just going with the spectra. It has a 2 year warranty as opposed to the 18 month for a nissens and the price is not much different. They are both plastic w/ aluminum core...

Re: This time it's my cooling system..
Too many choices for radiators! Is there a particular brand that's better? I'm seeing a lot of Nissens (which is what the VW parts place here sells) and Spectra. Also saw one that's Behr.
Which one???
