OK guys and gals. I bought this car like 6 weeks ago. It is my second VW ever and I have no idea how to work on it (but I know people that do so its good) I wasn't going to post picks because she is ugly right now!!! She needs paint BAD!! But I remind myself she is an 89 and about 16 years old and this is STOCK paint!! I bought the car from the original owners who kept her rinning but I don't think they knoew much about the dub... here is what I have fixed so far...

Oil change and flush, it was WAY to think!!
Cooling system flush, it is rusted, i din't think they ever used cooland only WATER!!!!
the dome light was broke and I fixed that
changed the air filter, that was a pain in the arsh!!
Change out the 2 front STOCK speakers to Eclipse 4x6's (to small I think!!)
Changed the crappy STOCK radio out put in the Sony Explode from my SRT

THINGS I WANT TO DO:
paint
body kit
new top (current top is 2 years old but I dont like the colol and it looks cheep)
new rims, want BBS maybe in 16' or 17's
redo the seats (front and rear)
angel eyes
new grill
lower it
put a 1.8t in it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

here is the crappy pick i took when I got her home.. Oh yeah names her Jessica LOL jessica Rabbit LOL but i just call her jessi!!

I wouldn't worry about appearance here, I don't.

They let me stay even after they saw my car, and yours is nicer.

Too bad about the Neon, like they say:

"Nothing good happens after 12:00 pm"

Your going to spend a lot more money getting 250HP from the Cabby.

Same here about the appearance.. my car looks like crap, and i can still say. Six, you dont think she can get 250hp with $4500 or less?? she can with used parts huh??g60 turbo, or proper turbo setup and 2 liter 16v motor???

!6V motor can be had for what? $800.00 to a $1,000.00

Turbo setup is gonna run at least that for all the plumbing, so add another $1,000.00

Rebuild the 16V because you don't know where it's been or how it's been treated. $500.00 to $750.00

So your at $2,750.00 in parts plus labor if you can't do it yourself.

Thats still only worth about 200-225HP. I could be wrong but your going to spend quite a bit to make it reliable too.

Anything can be done cheaper, and you'll always find somebody to exaggerate their HP figure at the wheel. It's all in how it comes out at the end.

16v 2L can be had for around $300, at least thats what I payed for mine.

Turbo setup that will give an easy 220hp to the wheels will run right around the 2k mark. (have a friend that does this all the times and has shown me the dyno sheets)

upgrading the brakes to slow all that damn power down in a controled fashion, $400

Realizing that you don't need 240+hp in a car that barely weighs more then a ton - priceless.

With the right combo getting 220whp, you can eat an SRT. However, it's still no sure thing, all relies on the person behind the wheel.

I've spanked high end mustangs, honda's and other assorted cars that have way more power then my tired lil rocco. Why, cause the person in the "faster car" didn't know how to drive it.

It's all good no matter how you look at it. "It's a CAB!" as for looks mine is still to far under the knife to even think it will hit the street until late next year.

I stand corrected, I didn't think the turbo would add that much.

I can't buy a decent 16v for anywhere near that up here. I'm going to look some more.
