$300 2.0L ABA shortblock!!!

Post by VWnoob »

I just got off the horn with Max from Max's German Auto here in So Cal. He posted here: viewtopic.php?p=3963&highlight=#3963

He has a bunch of ABA engines there with awesome low milage!
He will sell me an ABA shortblock with 30k miles for $300!!!!

My wife said that I can get new rims next month... but why fix something that aint broke.? My current rims are still goo, and with 250+k miles on my 1.8...its gonna break soon.
So I think that I will go with the swap!!! And while I'm at it, my dad and l will hook up my head with some performance trix on the head.

Where are you located? I can get you an ABA for $75-100 if you're anywhere near New England.

My personal block is a 50k unit that I got for $75.

BTW: While your head is off, get it hot-tanked, decked and tested for cracks. Have somebody install new valve seals. That way you can be gunk-free and certian that the head will last you another 200k. That work will be cheap.

2.0 L is in the air I just scored two 2.0 16v complete all the way down to the flywheel for a whooping $250. $700 for an ABA WOW! I can get them here at the local Pic-a-part for about $75 - $100. However milage would be the higher than 30k, but if your going to do the head why not have the block hot tanked and cleaned up so the money is well worth it. Just learned from past short cuts and then trying to explain it to the wife.

ooo  Kda, good looking out!
yeah I better get the head re-worked, God knows I would hate to try to explain it to the wifey.....she would kill me and want to sell my cabby.

Cant let that happen.

Man, I wish I lived where you guys are....Here at the local pick-a-part, its rare to see any mk1's in the yard. Mainly Japanese cars and american cars.
So finding the right part is a lil tougher.
