Have you done so much to the car today that it just doesn't fit into one section, or are you too damn lazy to split it all up? Either way, this is the section for you.
I got tired of that black cardboard piece moving off my radiator. I decided that I was going to replace it. So what should I use... I could of either used a piece of lexan but it was too thick, and I was cleaning up crap to take it to the dump and came across a piece of black glossy aluminuim that was on the bottom of my old dishwasher. I cut it down to size notched it to all the radiator clamps to hold it.
Then I tooks some 1/4 inch vaccuum hose cut lenghtwise and placed over the lip of the fan shroud, and the front radiator core.
On the bottom of the metal I placed some foam to stop it from rattleing. looks good, works great....and it don't move......

Great mod Brian!!!
Funny that you posted this mod, I was at my dads house yesterday cutting up some alluminum sheet metal for the very same thing!.
I dont know how many times I have dropped a lil screw or nut in that stupid gap! Pain to get out!
you must really be enjoying your time off of work.,.. that looks really sharp too... me thinks you should make a few of them and toss them on ebay or something. Looks like it actually belongs there. Beautiful, just beautiful.
I might just have to ask for a How-To on this one.... I need to replace all 3 of my fine-quality, German-engineered pieces of cra, er cardboard. Went to order new ones and I get: no longer available from the online store. If I can't the originals, I'll be fabricating 'em.
The black looks really good; as Jimmy said, looks like it belongs there and is part of the shroud. Very nice!
I was thinking the same thing as you kammy... but a little different. hehehe
I wont be fabricating for a while.. Look, if the almighty Admin Queen would give me a chance... I wanted to try and put a whole bunch of How to guides on here.. but we may not have enough bandwidth to support all of the pictures that would be in it. so maybe thats why she isn't letting me do it. hmmmmmmmmm I wonder.
demensions fo 90 cabby you may have to trim to fit
If i see this appearing on ebay,,,,,yall are in for it...

That looks great, Brian!! I also have one from stainless that William's dad made for me-what an improvement from ratty old cardboard. But I do like yours-the black finish makes it look perfect!!
a buddy of mine does web hosting, i'll see if he can hook me up with a sub site to host how-to's off of, i think that'd be a good addition to this wonderful site =]
Ahhh okies, that would be cool!! Speaking of which, I have been working on actually updating the main page since it was just something quick that I threw up there when I got my domain, and i have not touched it since.
I will have the section for links, so it would be great if you put some "how-to's" together. If your friend doesnt get around to hosting the information I can do it. Anything posted will be with full credit to the owners, of course.
Still, nice work. If you make a few of these, you'd be able to sell them in no time, I am sure.
oh, I see how it is Mrs Admin Lady.. People be stealin my idea about setting something up for how-to's... but thats cool. Just kidding.!! I dont have anyone that can host it.
I take all the cardboard off my VW's and throw it away. All it does is retain moisture and rot everything it touches. I never thought of replacing it with anything. Thumbs up.
