Stress Bars a must!

Installed a lower 4 point stress bar from ABD a couple of weeks ago.
It's amazing! The flex in the front end is almost all gone!
I suggest anyone who likes a good feeling corner to get one of these!!

It the ABD kit the 4pt lower sub-frame or basicly like a K-bar for the stock 16v Scirocco's? I've though about chucking a 4pt subframe under my rocco after I get time to do some engine work and a spare K-bar could easily find it's way onto my wifes cabby.

If you haven't already, add an upper strut tie bar to your bunneh and kiss about 98% of any flex goodbye.

The middle one is the one i got. It bolts to the A-arms and must drill holes into the subframe to bolt there. I do plan to add an upper, but that will be down the road.

ok thats the "K" bar. Those are standard on A1 chassis 16v cars. But you add that to any A1 car + a upper strut tie bar and you have a rock solid front end and lots of cornering fun.

i have an autotech upper strut bar and a 4pt lower bar but you know what, a 4pt lower doesn't fit an automatic car

i HATE automatics!!! i feel that if you can't drive a stick DON'T DRIVE!

a bit harsh but i pretty much agree. Exams should be on sticks, after that it doesn't matter much.

you can get away with leaving the rear alone, but it will be a weak point. The rear is naturally a bit stiffer since you have basicly a solid rear axle. Granted it's shaped like a big U but it's a solid piece. Adding an real functioning rear lower sway bar is a big help, the factory sway bar doesn't do a thing except at weight to the car. Pic up a 24~28mm Nuspeed rear sway and get a noticable difference. Just as an FYI, the reason the factory sway doesn't do anything is that is stops before a major bend in the rear control arm. So basicly, it's not adding any strength to a serious weekpoint.

My point was basicly, you don't need an upper rear stress bar if you add the rear sway bar. That is unless you want to Auto-X the car.

Cabbies are stiffer in the rear from the factory due to all the reinformcement needed for the convertable top. So unless you just wanting some braggin rights, there isn't much need for a rear upper stress bar.

If you ever want to drive an impressive automatic, try any of the new 2000 and up Audi's with the sportshift auto. Really cool. Any of the 928's will also impress.
