using top as a vent
I was just curious if anyone else uses the convertible top as a air scoop vent. I found that if i pull down the driver latch but keep the j-hook in the hole then it create an air scoop to blow air at my hot head. I only do this in the city at about 45mph and under (i'd be scared highway speeds would be too much stress). This is a somewhat nice alt to having the top down but roasting in this terrible sun.

Wouldn't ever consider it. A) Damage to the top could occur; B) that's what the windows are for.

I'm on the same page as Kamy, there is nothing to secure the top, one good bump and it is free. I remember watching a guy in a Beetle Convertable holding his top in the same sort of position with one hand and driving with the other.
He was all over the road, and was consitrating more on holding to the top than driving.

A couple of thoughts keeps re-occurring to me....
1. Star Trek the young version where James T. Kirk is driving his step dad's corvette and pop's the top.
2. Para-gliding.

Not to mention MacGyver setting the convertible top of a Caddy loose onto the bad guys.Briano1234 wrote:1. Star Trek the young version where James T. Kirk is driving his step dad's corvette and pop's the top.

That's what my A/C is for.bfrey003 wrote:Sometimes windows just arnt enough.

Of course, I ran it the other day; was cold for about 2 minutes... really need to get it recharged one of these days.

unfortunately both my ac needs a recharge and i think the air blower itself needs to be replaced. hopefully though that should be fixed by end of august. I went last winter without heat, i'd rather not do that again
