Formal Introduction

Post by VDubbinIt »

I've posted a few problems on here already and realized I never did a formal introduction! I have a 1986 Black Cabriolet that I've been the proud (most of the time) owner of since February of last year. I have always loved VW's - my first car was an 89 vw fox (worst car vw ever made). I bought this one for $900 and have since put double that in. She came from an owner who believed in duct tape and spit and I'm slowly getting her into shape. Most of the work has gone into the cooling system and suspension. I'm currently dealing with an idling problem that I've had since a friend helped me replace the valve cover gasket. I have no idea what went wrong on that day but ever since, she won't idle at normal temperature below 1300 rpm's. She still needs a lot of work and most of the time it's a love/hate relationship but I wouldn't trade her for a different car (unless it were a mk1 4 door golf or rabbit).

Thanks and see you in the forums!

Formally - Welcome. Nice cab, looks to be in pretty good shape. As for the idle problem, usually when it happens after a VC gasket change, it tends to be a vacuum issue somewhere. There are many lines and all it takes in a pin-hole in one to make you pull your hair out.
