Shave Your Door Handles

I've always liked the idea of shaved door handels. They give the car such a nice clean subtile look.

Here's how I did it on the Posh Bunny.

That's pretty nice, can the doors only be opened with the remotes or is there some sort of sensor that you put your hand next to?

I think if there were only remotes to open the doors it would be sort of a pain for passengers and or you(the driver).

I just use the remote that came with the kit. It is an 8 channel (I still have 5 channels to play with) and opens both doors and the trunk.

The pull handles inside the door are still there, so getting out is normal.

I do have a button to open the trunk on the dash as well as a hidden button for the driver's door (incase I lock the keys inside). It came in handy when I washed the car and forgot to take the keys out.

The locks aren't really used anymore correct?

It'd be pretty cool if there was a sensor in the door and something in your pocket that triggered it, when you walk really close it triggers the door, then have a keyless start sytem that picks up the signal of whatever is in your pocket so it can't start unless you are there, then you wouldn't have to mess with keys at all!!!

Let's just say the hidden door button is in an easily accessable place that is shielded from the eliments.

How much does the kit cost?

It was a couple of years ago when I bought the kit. I paid about $200. Cdn at the time. Depending where you go, it can range from $140. to $250
It appears the manufacturer has splt the door kit from electrics.

There are others on the market, that's just the one I used.

Correct. I simply removed the rod to the lock plungers on the door. I do suggest this be done, because if the doors are locked the solenoids will not open them.

For asthetic reasons I glued the plungers in the empty holes.

Sounds cool, but how would you keep the doors from opening when you walk by? The remote key fobs are small enough to keep in your pocket, and with a little designing, I'm sure you could build a keyless start system.
