Help, NEED an Alternator bolt!

Have you done so much to the car today that it just doesn't fit into one section, or are you too damn lazy to split it all up? Either way, this is the section for you.

Help, NEED an Alternator bolt!

Post by Black93CAB »

While driving along yesterday, i heard a loud smack and then noticed my red battery light had come one and my volt meter was down to about 10.5 usually sits right at 12 all day long. well i made it to where i was going, checked under the hood and low and behold, my alternator belt was gone, well i picked up a new one on my way home and got everything prepared to replace it. when i was taking my alternator out i noticed that it was loose and came right out after loosening the top adjustment bolt. come to find out the bottom 3-1/2" to 3-3/4" mounting bolt is gone, just not there at all... I went down to autzone and they had these generic alternator bolts but they were 5" and a 5/16" thread which was just a little too big. anybody know what size i need exactly and where i can find one? Thanks all help is welcomed and needed! :banghead:

I drive a 1993 VW Cabriolet collectors edition with what i am pretty sure is the stock 1.8 4 cylinder engine.

Who but a dedicated cabby nut would go out to his un-heated garage a 3:48 am in 19 degree weather and say to you 6mm.
