Here are the pics of the engine after a purple power bath, but before a wirewheel scrubbing.

And here are the current shots. Front side of the block has been painted with 1200 degree black paint, head paint and clear coat still waiting to be done.

And here is the sludge pond forming under the engine

Thanks. If I can get my rocco back together by the weekend, I should be able to finish painting the engine and possibly start putting it back together. Still missing a few gaskets, but I think I'm just going to brake down and buy a gasket kit for the engine and just use what I need.

Sludge pond, is going to become a regular in the photo's I think, it just seems to add something to the pics. Who knows, it might become my next experiment, see what kinda things grow out of it, dissolve in it *shrug*, who knows what I might do.

I'm also toying around with the idea of painting the tranny, but I just can't think of a good color to paint it. The car is silver-blue metalic, engine will be black, head will be aluminium, whats a good color to go along with that? Or should I just spray it with the aluminium spray as well?

The rocco is pretty much stock and sadly, most of it is still factory original.

1988 Scirocco 16v
120hp
123lbs Tourque

Only Mods are:

H&R soft sport springs
OEM Euro Headlamps H4 main-beam H3 High Beam
ATE Slotted & Vented front rotors + Mintex Red brake pads
K&N Air filter (can this even be considered a mod?)
Kenwood MP3 player head unit
Jensen 600w amp
MTX BlueThunder comp series 10" in Q-logic box
ABD Short Shift
Extra running light in the tail lamp mod
30% Window Tint

Like I said, she's pretty much all OEM stock really. Has somewhere around 250K miles or more on her and is still good for 128mph (thats as fast as I've pushed her or care to). Motor is still very strong, just needs new seals/gaskets on the top end.

I really need to give her a real good bath, strip off last years wax, buff and re-wax. Maybe if I get a chance to do that this weekend I'll take another pic of her and post it up.

Roccos are badass. I remember one, dont know the year and dont know the mods, but it was loud and it was embarrasing some lightly modded civics at Rockinham Dragway.

I think he was hittin low 15's easily and may have had a high 14's run. May not seem like much, but I thought Sirroco 16v could hit high 15's no mods, so he took nearly a second and a half off his time.

I remember it being black through and through...kinda evil looking

lowcab, there is only one solution for the missing of a rocco. Get another one. There are still a bunch around, and you are in the perfect area to snag them, since they all seem to be in Ohio. Matter of fact, this coming June if I can make it, I'll be attending the Scirocco.org get together up in Wilmington Ohio, I think we should find a way to meet up at some point while I'm up there. I should have Kuklaki with me as well, so you can meet her too.

Cholos, rocco's are badass, and mine is black

Dunno about the track time, never had mine on the track and with as much milage as she has, I don't think I'd chance her on the track just now, heh.

I'll be honest about the GTG, because this all takes place at one of the listers parents house, non listmembers are kinda unwelcome. However, if your looking to make a possible sale connection, it prollie won't be an issue at all.

Only reason why things are like this now is that a few years back, it apparently got turned into a bit of a zoo as people on various forums just thought it was like a car show and showed up un-invited. So now it's just a bit more of a guarded thing since the host doesn't exactly have the insurrance required for actual shows. So please don't take offence to my statement.

I will however, put the feeler out as time gets closer if your still interested. Someone on the list is always selling one of their rocco's or knows someone that is. I swear sometimes the list seems more like a classifieds then anything else.

no offence taken, i completely understand. but keep an eye out for a good 16v for me.... my wifes gonna kill me! :)
if they want a legit place to get together they should contact mr. buxton from ohiovw.com. he makes all the arrangements for our local vw GTG's, he would know of a place.
