I'm always tempted to remove the A/C hoses, but I haven't actually done it. Mostly it just seems a shame to break up a complete factory A/C system, even if it doesn't work and I have no interest in fixing it... Still, it's annoying to have that hose in the way every time I go to check the oil.

There aren't many hoses and wires in there that you don't need, really. If you want to do some clean up you're mostly going to be looking at bundling stuff and re-routing it so it looks less messy.

At the forum in holland there is a guy from belgium who cleaned his engine up.

He placed his battery in the trunk, removed all the non important wires , and he make some shells of polyester.

He's also running carburetors, so he doesn't need all the FI lines. (Although personally I think those braided FI lines look pretty cool.)
