Exhaust sound bytes?

Post by cholos2 »

Anybody have sound bytes of their after market exhausts? Tryin to convince the wifey that an exhausts, rims and some suspension mods wouldnt kill her. She thinks that all after market exhausts will sound like rice rocket fart cannons.

Hell, I wish I had something besides my stock setup. One day I will, right after I get the rest of the car in order, heh.

I have a stock 91 Cabby and I put a on a new muffler (the Cat was checked and it was fine) Anyhow, the sound is wimpy and buzzy. Maybe a performance exhaust would let out some better sounds but I have heard other Cabby owners comment and they always say the word "buzzy". I have always felt like the car should have a sound that matches the way it drives and feels but it sure isn't with the stock system.

PS. I never heard a rice burner sound like this in stock form so you may have a great idea. Basically, anything would be an improvement. If your wife decides otherwise repeat the following: "Yes dear, you were right and I was wrong. I am sorry". She would prefer to hear this at least once a week for about a month straight but you will still have that new exhaust and a smile a month later.

When I bought my car it had a stock system on it but it sounded fantastic. It rotted off a couple of months back. Somebody had cut the resonator out of the center pipe and being the purist that I am I replaced the center section with OEM and put an Ansa muffler on it. Now it sounds ok, not as good as the previous exhaust did though. I'm seriously considering cutting the center pipe up, it just goes against everything I believe in to cut a brand new pipe up.

Tried to get some sound coming in this morning but I didn't get any clips worth posting. How about a little modification on this topic. Lets all find one of our favorite roads and take a spirited jaunt through the twisties with movie/sound clips? I don't know what kind of memory/bandwidth we are confined to though. Calimus/Kuklaki, what do you think?

The new host gives me 7.6gb of disk space and 192gb of bandwidth eatch month. So, as long as the clips arn't massive and they don't get leaked out to too many, it shouldn't be a real issue.

However, that leaves one problem, uploading them to the site. I have some ideas in mind, but I'll have to see if I can implement them. Currently, kuklaki and I don't have any internet access at home. Our cable company desided to do a massive network upgrade lastnight and now my cable modem is non-compliant. Since I own my modem, I have to get a new one. I also have a wedding rehersal to attend tonight, and then the wedding tomorrow so I don't know that I'll be able to get to much till Saturday. It's a great thought though, I'll get working on it as soon as I can.

hahahha if I take a spirited twisty drive, you'll be able to hear all the tire rubbing going on 8)
Sounds like an interesting idea, we'll have to get our internet fixed before anything else, though.

Ok, our internet connection is back up, all hail to me.

Anyway, I have a wedding to attend tomorrow which means I start my day at 7:45am and I prollie won't get back home (due to Atlanta traffic  ) till around 6-8pm. As soon as I'm home, I'm going to start working on a way for you folks to send me audio and video.

I'm wondering now what the best way is going to be to mount the camera. Between the seats suspended on straps, mount to the dashboard, strapped to the passenger seat? Anybody done this before? I watched a video a few days ago of a guy in a 911 on a track in Germany and he had his mounted so that you could see the tach and the speedo too. I'm going to work on it some more this weekend, is there anything on the market that's not too much money?
