what am i looking at to do a complete rebuild on my 1.8 8v? i also want to "build" the engine to squeeze as much power as i can

in order to squueze everything out of it, you will need to overbore the engine, get bigger pistons and rings.
Find a good beefy cam, and maybe a JATO rocket to strap to that thing.
Seriously, I think 8v's get turboed so much because it's prollie the only cost effective way to really get power out of them.

ABA/1.8 head, Euro GTI 1800 cam or Drake cam, Port and Polish, header or 4-2 manifold and 2-1 TT Tall block downpipe, complete 2.25" exhaust. (2.5" is a hassle to fit), Audi 5000 Throttle Body
