Post by bLac K aBriOleT89 »

Can somebody post the appropriate wire resistance values for an mk4? I'started to run rough today and I want to start by measuring that.....The all-time trusted Jetta is running crappy!

For a 12V VR6: 5.7-6.2 ohms. Check the coil pack too (from what I keep reading, it's a common failure item  ): http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=793322 .

Thanks Kammy (always to the rescue!) :) I checked resistances and all were within specs. Did the water test to the coil pack and no sparks or anything. Now I'm gonna read something about the MAF sensor to see if the sympthoms match....
But the poor Road Eater is vibrating, missfiring, and smelling rich gas...
I'm gonna do the test on your link to double check...

Rock on! 8)

That reminds me; while they're not the originals, I need to replace the plugs in mine too. :? The last time I was at the dealer, the service advisor tried talking me into the 80K service (glorified oil and plug change); they should really just call it a "check-up"... pay $500 for them to spend 4 hours checking this and checking that.

Yeah..some ppl say that the plugs are good for 100,000k miles which I doubt. I was just neglecting some maintenence. The fuel filter was the original too. These cars are incredible, if it wasn't for the wire going potatoes who knows for how long i would have kept the plugs and filter.... :rmad:
The other thing is the car is running so good, so smooth, and responsive, I didn't remember that's the way it suppose to be! Since the power decreases so slow you don't even feel it. Now I'm reviving the moments when I first drove it again! Also I discovered how easy is to change the plugs!

At least they don't have to be changed as often. $20 a piece plus $105/hour that a dealer charges for labor... well, you still saved yourself some major bucks doing it yourself!

Absolutely. And plus the wire and the fuel filter change I guess they would have charged at least TWO hours if not more.....
Saved under the sleeve I have an independat VW shop that charges $80 an hour.....
