Been thinking about the carpet in my Cabriolet and how much of a pain it is to keep it clean and dry. My P71 Crown Vic has no carpet, just a rubber mat, and it's a lot more practical.
Anyone ever driven a Cabbie with the carpet removed? What was the noise level like? I'm thinking I could make some removable duck boards, like in a VW Thing.
Crazy idea #27 -- carpet? We don't need no stinkin' carpet!

A friend ripped the carpet out of his... with the top up, it's annoyingly loud inside the car on the highway. It's so loud that you can't have a normal conversation; instead, you essentially yell at one another, put up with the constant "what'd you say?", or say nothing at all.

Thanks, that's what I was afraid of.
Gonna shelve this idea until I have enough spare cash to buy Dynamat or B-Quiet to replace the lost sound deadening.

Gull, Did you ever try this? I was actually thinking about ripping my carpet up earlier today cause it's just not very good. I didnt even think about the noise levels.
I just looked up what duckboards were though and think it would look good in a cabby
