Used spray adhesive to atach plaid material to old material for door cards, used white glue to stick the original fabric back on to the card and stapled down the edges. Still have the paddedness there was before and looks new.
Used vinyl spray paint to do the interior trim. The stuff workes great and flexes with the parts.
When I got the car it was black and red with a crap load of rust under the paint so I took the grinder to it. I also removed all the trim and the rear bumper.
I filled all the holes from the rust, trim, side lights, and side bumper mounts with BONDO, I know its evil but the car cost me 200 bucks and I'm on a budjet and time schedule, as well as limited tools.
I painted the steelies white and ditched the ugly hub caps it had. The center caps didn't fit the wheels right so I tie wired them in.
installed a new head light and painted angry eyebrows
As I was filling the holes in the rear quarter panel I notices they were full of water so I drilledl a hole in the bottom and...
There was a lot of water, I had plenty of time to leave and find the camera
The car needed new drums and I couldn't do the drums without new berrings so I did it all, luckily fox parts are dirt cheap
after I filled the holes I did a rough sand and took off the red stripe with a utility knife blade. Then it was a ton of flat black tremclad paint and a satin tremclad clearcoat leaving the car not flat but not shiny kind of in between. Like purgatory i guess
I added a white stripe with the VW logo
And the finished product:

OMG! I love, love LOVE the doorcards. Those came out great-you did really well with them. I am also digging the plaid fabric you chose.
You get an A+ from me. Cant wait to see more of your progress if you decide to do some more.

Actually I cut my hair in Aug of 2005 to the Shaved state, and haven't been back to a barber since. So it is longer and in a pony tail, then I decided in Aug to quit Shaving... So now I look like the typical red-neck roundchere.... but it is in a good cause that I grow my hair to the proper lenght.
Another couple of months then I can have it trimmed...

I'm green with envy. I haven't been able to have the beard since my first post-college job. Had one from about 15 so I could buy beer . Have to be able to wear a respirator now though. I only get to grow it during vacations...
Foxy Fox by the way... Sorry to drag this off topic. Don't feel too bad about the bondo, I ended up replacing a section of floor on one of my Toyotas with fiberglass. Might be al ittle stronger over a big void spot (works for Vettes, right?). Those of us who don't weld have to do the best we can...
