IF ANYONE CAN HELP 2.0L 16V swap

Post by cabrio85 »

:D putting a 2.0L 16v into a 85 cabriolet, need help with wiring solution. i have the engine wiring harness out of the 1990 passat that the motor came out of. :? anyone have somewhat simple solution or the best way to make the swap work well? i know it's been done the motor is already in just need to start piecing it back together. i'd like to get as much of the wiring done first so i can make it as neat as possible.

if anyone can help!

the big question is, are you changing the entire fuel system over to what came out of the passat? If not, then the some of the wiring you have won't be any good as it's there for the other fuel system.

using the fuel system out of the passat, with a few altercations to make the system fit, just minor.

What you need is the wiring diagram for the Passat and for the Cabby.

You need to redraw the diagram to show how the components from the Passat will adapt to the harness of the car.

This is for two reasons:

1) so you will know what to do; and

2) so when you or someone else needs to fix the car in a few years, they will have a diagram that shows how the fuel system/computer has been adapted to the car.

It's a quite a few hours of design work up front but will save at least as much time during the assembly phase and countless hours during any repair.
