Pull or Drop

Post by Briano1234 »

Okay, yall have read my thread Farging won't start, I have found a machine shop that will take a look and try to get it out, the guy says that a helicoil will take the torque of the new bolt 100ft lbs or so.

So the question for today is....

Is it easier to pull the engine from the top, or drop it out the bottom. I dropped and swapped a Diesel Rabbit from the bottom, but it never occured to me that I might be-able to Pull the engine out from the top.

How hard is it to pull rather than drop, and engine? Thought's comments and gotcha's would be appreciated....

Yes as matter of fact, I have the Luck o'the Irish...everything I touch turns to fertilizer of the bovine variety.

Drop it out the bottom. I've taken one through the top before, my back was pissed at me for a week. The engine and tranny will snag on everything trying to go through the top.

10x easier to just jack the car way up on jackstands and drop the whole mess out the bottom.
