Another Newbie

Post by thingmon »

Hey, great site! I have an '87 that I'm planning to start messing with. Bought it for my wife but, well, she isn't one of us. Frankly, neither was I initially, I was going to sell it and put the money towards a Thing (yah, I like those too...) but, well, I've been bitten.

I was thinking body kit, etc..., but after seeing Taz, I'm revising the plan. Well done Jeff, you've set the bar high, indeed.

See ya soon...

Yeah Taz has inspired us all!

Welcome to the board and to the VW Scene.
Judging by my name, I started out just like you, totally green to the VW scene and like you I got bit.

Now, I am no longer a noob and am looking to do some serious mods to my Cabby.....hopefully 2.0l 16v turbo. 8)

Welcome again to the family.

Yes, welcome to TRF. And yes, we want pics! And with pics let;s hear about what you are thinking. When work gets it's greedy little fingers off of our friendly admin's time off, I will be putting him to work on members pages, so you can officially document pics, plans, and progress. I look forward to seeing yours!

thanks all,

Here's a shot from a local club's show last fall... looks alot like the one on the TRF Home page:

Hopefully it will upload to your site, if not, I'll have to switch the link...

Won't happen all at once of course (bathroom remodel is taking precedence) but here's the list: new seat covers (pref black), a boot cover, black aftermarket wheels, diff springs (roco's?) to drop the nose, a 5sp swap, eurobumpers, spoiler, probably paint the mirror pods and wheel flares black, a 5cyl audi motor (ha), er maybe a 1.8T or whatever, looking for 150 hp or so, maybe a 4 light grill, maybe.

Body and paint are orig and still in very good shape so I doubt I'll mess with it.

The green Mk1 is a trip! His emblem on the back is two bunnies doing what bunnies do best (no they aren't eating carrots...)!
