you can, but sometimes they don't look right...to big. these cars are so small that 16's are about as big as you want to go. i have 16's on my 89 cabby, i had thought about 17's but after seeing pics of mkI's with them i changed my mind.
i'll see if i can find some pics of mkI's with 17's for ya.

If you can't beat them, drop the top and pimp by 'em!

Agreed, I've seen the Big Wheels on a Cabby and it looks a lil bit whacky-tho there were very few that were done right-maybe the style of them made the difference altogether. You also have to worry about how to get a large wheel to fit properly-rub a dub dub1lowcab wrote:you can, but sometimes they don't look right...to big. these cars are so small that 16's are about as big as you want to go. i have 16's on my 89 cabby, i had thought about 17's but after seeing pics of mkI's with them i changed my mind.

What are those? I like the offset. Old guys like me can never shake off the look a deep dish lip can give instead of these new rims that are flush with the tires. Never did it for me, but options are limited. Even my Porsche has the damn flush trashcan rims.
Oh, and I like the VW centercap retrofit!
