Have you done so much to the car today that it just doesn't fit into one section, or are you too damn lazy to split it all up? Either way, this is the section for you.
Started the long process of getting the Rabbit back on the road. Took out the gas tank Saturday and there is about one inch of rust and crap in the bottom. I guess that is what happens when it sits for 7 years with an almost full tank. Which now looks and smells like varnish, but really burns good (had to try it ). Rear brake shoes were rusted to the drums, made it interesting getting them off . New parts will be on the way soon.
Slapped a new battery in the 87' rocco and dumped some new gas in it as well. Then proceeded to give it an Italian tune up. Going to have to rely on the A1 to get me to work this week due to rain and the fact that Kuklaki has to be in Nashville from Wed till Monday and she's taking the beetle.
Well, Operation Diesel Swap is under way. I'll be picking up the donor on Sunday, tomorrow Stinky gets her new top, w00t! I also need to re bend the pass side front brake line since some 1/2 assed mechanic whiz wheeled it trying to get the tired (325,000 mile) 8V out. Yes, the mileage is correct, the previous owner to the guy I bought it from kept EVERY receipt for EVERYTHING on the Cabby, $14,000 worth of them, lol. If there are any Maryland cabby owners that wanna turn a wrench, I can supply some barley pops.
NOT A DAM THING I DID TO MY CARS (this week) Untill I drove to the Air port, and Couldn't get the Shifter out of PARK... Tomorrow the Shift interlock goes bye bye.
But that little burp didn't stop my pleasure drive...........topless.

Brian, the thought of you topless out in public just sent shivers down my spine. Then I realized you were talking about having the convertible top down and I was able to keep my breakfast down as well.

Was getting ready to say NOT A DAM THING, but the son came home after the football game and said, "Dad, the drivers door moulding fell off..." To which I replied, "Did you find it?" "Yeah, it fell off in my hand when I shut the door." So today I had to use the last of my genuine clips and put that sucker back on.....
On a side note I finally got around to fixing my wife's 22" rectangular TFT monitor.. 5 bad Caps in the power supply, so I can have my 19" rectangular back....

I had all kinds of plans this weekend, but I've managed to contract the great Ga Creeping Crud. So I've been stuck in the house feeling like a pile of warmed over manure.

Having fun today. So far I've changed the oil on the NB along with required filters, relubed the wing, checked all the tires and re-tightened the clamps on the boost hoses. Pulled the 87' rocco in to the garage to find a obliterated front engine mount. At least now I know what I've got so much vibration. GAP to the rescue, have that on order now and can find some of the other rattles.
Not a heck of a lot going on here. I've put the two cabbys away for the winter, did a brake job on the Jetta and now I'm counting the days until spring when the two cabbys wil again be crusin'.
Well, I decided to delve in to the heater controls. The have been wonky, as the re-circ servo wouldn't pull, and the Defroster started to not engage.
So being the dedicated anally retentive person I are, I got out the diagrams and made sure that the vacuum lines were correctly run, and that is no small feet for a large person like myself. Well while I was inspecting the hoses what caught my attention was the vacuum control mount was broken, and when you moved the arm to select it would do it's own thing.... Damnit.... but I had another, and I swapped it out.
Placed the negative lead back on the battery and the sob was broke, and wouldn't tighten. 4 different positive cables, and no frigging negatives... DAMNIT run get one, as I really didn't want to tape black over the red color.
After replacing the battery cable, I then get my next clue.... the Fan switch wasn't working. Okay got another one out of the drawer...
Now the fan wasn't really pushing air in 1 speed or 2, but with my luck today that is for another day as well as replacing the thermostat....
But at least I got my battery cable repaired, fan switch working, and all my servo's work for this moment......
