interesting tidbit

Have you done so much to the car today that it just doesn't fit into one section, or are you too damn lazy to split it all up? Either way, this is the section for you.

interesting tidbit

Post by Briano1234 »

i was driving my cabby the other night, and after stopping the car, my windows wouldn't close...They usually did if I didn't open a door.

Well I found out the answer or another undocumented feature.

If you turn off the courtesy light the windows wont go up.
If you turn it of in the middle of rasing a window with the ignition off they stop.

Conclusion the after run window up feature is only good if the light is on the on with the door open switch setting.

Huh, that's weird. Mine go up no matter what the conditions: light on, doors open, light off, doors closed.... wait, mine are powered by hand! :D :P :P

I don't think anyone's ever mentioned that little quirk before... very interesting find

Hrm, I can't even test this as the dome light in the 92' is non-existant. As soon as I can pick up a new one, I'll have to try that out.

My dome light is always in the off position and I can use my windows after the car is turned off. Of course I can also take the ignition key out while the car is running. I can also start my car with just about any VW key I can find. News flash-my cabby has issues.

Nope didn't work....windows didn't budge.

It isn't a problem perse, it is more like an undocumented feature in the owners manual, although it does state that the windows will roll up weither you have the key in or out as long as the doors aren't open.
