ever have one of them days?...

Have you done so much to the car today that it just doesn't fit into one section, or are you too damn lazy to split it all up? Either way, this is the section for you.

ever have one of them days?...

Post by Briano1234 »

Well, my center vents quit working 6 months after replacing the servo..Sheeeeit.

Well I decided to take the A/C control panel off and take a look yipppppeeeee, a hose was disconected....replaced, fired the car...DAMN...The vents still didn't work.

Running to the Pull-A-Part my son and I scored 2 metal servos...cool missed seeing the bubster....not by much....

Stopped by Pepboys for shoes for the bunny....

Preceded to remove the dash, and the almost new Center Vents Broke to hell and a hand basket in my hand...SHEEEEITTTTTT DOUBLE DAMN,,,,,....
I would of rather sat on the thing to break it but that is my luck...lol
maybe tomorrow I will pick up the rain gutter that I found, and there were two sets of seat that I found. One was in a toyota supra, the other in a jetta.....all I have to do is remove the covers.....and the head rest...
and take the bottoms....I really liked the supras, the Kidney Bolsters could be tightend or loosened to your individual liking.... May just go for them......instead....

Well by the time I got all the loose wires ty-wrapped into place, the dirt cleaned off....Pull-A-Part was closed for the day...

So I will have to make another trip to find me a center vent...

But I now have a metal servo installed.....yippppppeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Well another trip to the yard, and alas no center vents....DAMN.....

But it was a nice gentle walk, sunny and cool breeze. So in retrospect, it was a healthy walk....

Gotta pull the whole dash off?? What is suppose to come out of the center vents.. Heat only right?>? Cold Air only is to come out of the Side vents unless you do that mod with some kind of tube or something

heat or cold comes out the center vents. Cold or fresh on the outside.

Sounds like the servo is shot, or you have a vacc line with a hole in it. Center vent should produce heat and A/C if you have it along with fresh air.

check you vac line first. my cab did the same thing when i got it. after about a year driving it like that i finally started checking things and the main vac line that runs into the car was cracked in half....heh, no wonder it didn't work.

To prove my postulate about the luck of the irish...( or lack there of ).

My parking brake handle came off over the top, as I hadn't checked the brakes on the rear, i decided to replace the brakes.

As I couldn't do heavy lifting I had my sone jack the car, and remove the tires.... Well the rear wheel grease seal was bad, leaked all over the shoes. Not a problem i bought new bearings and seals. As I was cleaning the back plate, I had my son clean the springs and things.

Well the passenger side went smooth.
The drivers side, the piston came out of the cylinder....shit.
Then my son threw out the cleaning solvent, and both hold down cups....I found one but the other was lost.

PEPboys, Advance, and Napa didn't have a hardware kit.
the wrecking yard was closed

So I finished replaceing the brakes save for the holddown. Packed the new bearings, installed the rear one and seal got it ready.

This morning i ran to the wrecking yard had the entire hold down pin spring and cup... I took both. and was finished by 9:00.....

so a 2 hour job took 5... that my friends is the luck of the irish.

In the future just buy the cheapest hardware kit you can find. Pretty much all the cups are the same size, slight differences won't matter much. I have 6 or 7 laying around at all times.

I had a couple laying around here too, too bad they were for a dodge, and 1 inch too long....but that is the luck of the irish.

Always the way, save it forever and it's not right when you need it. I usually use it on somebody else's car and then when I need one it's an hour drive and $30.00 to get another one.

Some of the vacc lines look pretty nasty.. once I am able to get my arms movign around and am able to lean in under the hood, i was gonna buy some red silicome vacc hose and replace all the vacc lines that I could find. is 3mm or 4mm?
