86 Cabriolet wiper issues
I have a 86 Cabriolet. I am not having any luck in getting my wipers to work. Not sure if i have the correct relay. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, is there a place where i can reference the numbers on the relays to see if i have the correct ones?

I'll try to check the relays on the wifes cabby tonight or tomorrow and see whats up.
For starters, unplug the connection tot he wiper, use a test light or a voltmeter, turn the wiper switch on and see if you get any reading. If you arn't getting any kind of power to the connector, then you have some bad wiring or it just could be the relay. Though I can't say that I've had a single relay got bad in either of my A1's (knock on wood) I know that it can happen.
So give that a shot in the mean time and I'll see what numbers I can pull off the car within the next 24 hours.

Had a similar problem with the Evil Rabbit last year.
The wipers slowed down and eventually just gave out. The electrics were all ok. So I figured it was the wiper motor Ilocated on the driver's side of the engine compartment.
Wrong!!
It was the wiper transmission. one of the joints was siezed.
The transmission is also the bracket that holds the motor in place as well.
You can get one at your local wrecker for about $10.

Second that, I just had the rear wiper seize on my Vanagon. The wiper switches are often the culprit on these cars. Fairly easy to get to, the contacts get junk all over them and the springs get weak and all of a sudden no electricity. I hate to mention this, but you did check the fuse, right?
