Year would be nice to remind us of.

Vacuum leaks, Hoses, and the Throttlebody by-pass come first to mind.
Fuel Pump relay next.

Grounds as always.

I agree with Brian.
Vacuum lines and the throttle body.
Idle adjustment screw also comes to mind. The O-Ring there might be shot.

Good question. Could you provide a little more description where it is located. Generally all the relays are located on the fuse panel. You would need to trace the wires back to see what it's for.
With cars as old as yours, this could be modification someone has added along the way.

Can you send a picture?

This looks foreign to me. I don't believe it is OEM. So I guess It's time to figure out what it is for.

I suggest disconnect it from the battery. Then look for what stops working. When you determine that reconnect it to the battery and confirm it is working again.

It's probably something a former owner has added to the car. Sorry I can't give you more help. But it's probably an add on of some sort.

Well, I haven't had a chance to get to my cars today. But I did look up the part number you mentioned above.

This relay is a Ford OEM relay, so it is an add on to your car by a previous owner. It is just a simple switching relay, so it is there to isolate something. Without chasing down the wiring, I can't tell you much more.

Again all I can suggest is to disconnect the battery connection and see what stops working.

I didn't see a relay Phil what good eyes you have.

Automatic? then it could be a heat soak relay.

The whole engine didn't start when I unplugged the relay lol
I couldn't trace it, I followed it to the back of the engine but can't see where it ends

OK, when you tried to start the car with the relay removed, did the starter turn? Or did nothing happen?

I'm beginning to think someone has gotten "creative" here. But hasn't written anything to help with problems at a later time.

There could be several possible things that this relay is controlling. But I can't confirm without actually seeing it in person.

The relay you quoted is rather cheap to replace, so I suggest replacing the relay with a new one. Then see if your shutdown issue goes away.

In any event, you should try to find out what this relay is actually doing.
If for nothing else, your mechanic's peace of mind.

nothing happened at all. Would you think any auto shop has it like oreilys or audio zone?
