Putting a new clutch cable into a 93. What should I use to lubricate the new cable before installation?
Thanks, Matt

Re: Replacing clutch cable
Okay thanks. I was reading the following how to and the first thing they said to do was lubricate the new cable. Hence my question

"Lubricate the new cable and set it aside."Thicketmatt wrote:I was reading the following how to and the first thing they said to do was lubricate the new cable. Hence my question

Ummmm, lubricate it with what?!

The Bentley Service Manual stipulates the following in step 4: "Lubricate both ends [of the cable] with multipurpose grease...", which you should do because the cable slides against the sheath/housing at each end to due the angles. It's not required to be lubed, but it's recommended.
Jeeze... it took longer to read that how-to than to actually replace the cable in my car.
